The second leg of the IPL 2021 is all set to resume from 19th September 2021 with Mumbai Indians taking on Chennai Super Kings on Sunday at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Both finished in the top half of the points table at the end of the first leg of the tournament.
Chennai Super Kings made a roaring comeback in IPL 2021 after enduring a horrendous performance in the 2020 edition. The inclusion of Moeen Ali and the emergence of Ruturaj Gaikwad worked wonders for them. CSK won 5 matches out of seven and therefore finished at the second position on the points table. The Men in Yellow would be keen to continue their impressive performance and book their place in the playoffs.
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, blew hot and cold in the first leg of the tournament. The likes of Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, and Ishan Kishan exhibited lackluster performances. Rohit Sharma and Co. were impressive in their last two games and finished at fourth position with 4 wins in 7 matches.
Both MI and CSK played their last game against each other. A high-scoring encounter eventually resulted in favor of Mumbai Indians, thanks to a brilliant knock from Kieron Pollard. The two teams will once again square up against each other for the second time in IPL 2021 edition.
IPL 2021: CSK vs MI- 3 Player Battles To Watch Out For:
Faf du Plessis vs Jasprit Bumrah

Faf du Plessis was instrumental in the Chennai Super Kings’ rise in the first half of IPL 2021. He was responsible for giving blistering starts to the innings. With Rituraj Gaekwad, he made a great pair and played some scintillating knocks at the top of the order.
In 7 games, he scored 320 runs at an average of 64.00. Add to that, he has played a few heart-warming knocks in CPL 2021 for Saint Lucia Kings. The last time CSK played against MI, Faf du Plessis scored a half-century in just 28 balls.
Ahead of the first game of the second leg, he will be facing Jasprit Bumrah, once again at Dubai International Cricket Team. The Indian seamer is coming into the series on the back of impressive performances in the Test series against England.
He too will be riding high on confidence. Jasprit Bumrah vs Faf du Plessis is going to be one contest that fans would surely be looking forward to.
Quinton de Kock vs Deepak Chahar
For CSK, if there is someone who can stop him, it’s Deepak Chahar. The Indian seamer was absolutely brilliant in the first half of IPL 2021. He was responsible for picking wickets in the powerplay overs and creating pressure on the opposition right from the start. In 7 games, he picked up 8 wickets at an average of 24.12.
It will be interesting to see who comes on top in the battle between these two.
Rohit Sharma vs Sam Curran

Rohit Sharma opened the innings alongside Quinton de Kock in the first leg of IPL 2021. He had a pretty good season with the bat, though the skipper was criticized for not converting the starts into big scores. In the last game against CSK during the first leg of IPL 2021, he got out after getting a good start. Rohit Sharma’s inconsistent run in IPL isn’t something that people aren’t aware of. He hasn’t been able to play to his potential in the IPL.
Ahead of the second leg of the IPL 2021, Rohit Sharma would be desperate to perform well with the bat. He is in great form and would be keen to make an impression in the remaining matches of IPL 2021.
First up, he will be facing Sam Curran on Sunday. The English seamer made heads turn with his all-round performances for CSK in the first half of the tournament. He opened the bowling for the side and bowled at great areas. He finished the first leg of IPL 2021 with 9 wickets in 7 games. Besides, Sam Curran claimed three wickets in CSK’s last game against MI.
With the new ball, Sam Curran can trouble Rohit with the ball coming in. Rohit Sharma, however, would be aware of that and won’t let the Englishman get the better of him. It will be interesting to see how the two play against each other on Sunday.
