IPL 2021: CSK vs MI- Mumbai Indians (MI) Predicted Playing XI Against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Mumbai Indians will begin their UAE campaign against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. They blew hot and cold in the India leg of IPL 2021.

Rohit Sharma and Co. played their first five matches at Chepauk and could only win 2 out of them. The likes of Hardik Pandya, Pollard and Ishan Kishan failed to hit the straps. The fast bowlers too made forgettable returns.

However, they finished the first leg of the season after picking two wins in their last games played at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Thanks to those two wins, Mumbai Indians reached the fourth position on the points table with 4 wins in 7 matches.

Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the history of the IPL. And you would expect them to bounce back strongly in the second leg of the tournament. They won the last edition in UAE and would be aware of the conditions on offer.

In this article, we look at Mumbai Indians’ predicted playing XI for the encounter against CSK on Sunday.

IPL 2021: CSK vs MI- Mumbai Indians (MI) Predicted Playing XI Against Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

Rohit Sharma

Amongst all the MI batsmen, Rohit Sharma looked the most assured in the first leg of the tournament. In 7 matches, he scored 250 runs at an average of 35.71 and a strike rate of close to 130. For Mumbai Indians to get themselves back at the top, Rohit Sharma needs to keep scoring runs consistently in the remainder of the tournament.

Quinton de Kock

Quinton de Kock is in superlative form with the bat. He is coming into the tournament on the back of heart-warming knocks against Sri Lanka in the recently concluded T20 series. He finished as the highest run-scorer for the side, amassing 153 runs in 3 matches at an astonishing average of 153.

Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav looked a pale shadow of himself in the first half of IPL 2021. He was guilty of not converting the starts he got in the tournament. In 7 matches, he scored 173 runs at an average of 24.71. The numbers aren’t that bad, however, the kind of form he was in, he wouldn’t be too satisfied with that.

Ishan Kishan

Low returns in the first few games meant Ishan Kishan was dropped from the playing XI in the last couple of games of the first half of IPL 2021. He was the highest run-scorer for MI in IPL 2021. However, the first half of IPL 2021 saw him scoring only 73 runs in 5 matches at an average of 14.60.

Ishan Kishan would be happy with the fact that the tournament has once again moved to UAE. He would be expecting to get his place back into the playing XI.

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya, unarguably, endured a forgettable season with the bat in the India leg of IPL 2021. In 7 matches, he only managed to score 52 runs with the bat at an average of just 8.66. With T20 World Cup, both MI and the Indian team would be wanting Pandya to get his mojo back.

Also, the second leg would see him rolling his arms as well. Hardik Pandya will be a player to watch for out in the second leg of the tournament.

Kieron Pollard

Kieron Pollard played a sensational inning in the Mumbai Indians’ last game of the first leg of the IPL 2021 season against Chennai Super Kings. He played an unbeaten 87-run knock of 34 balls to help his team chase a mammoth 218-run total.

Though, this was the only notable innings he played during the tournament. Other than that, there wasn’t any substantial contribution from the West Indies skipper for the franchise.

Krunal Pandya

Krunal Pandya should make into the side as the spin bowling all-rounder. In 7 matches, he scored 100 runs at an average of 16.66. With that ball, he picked 3 wickets at an average of 42.66. Pandya would be keen on making better returns in UAE.

Nathan Coulter Nile

Nathan Coulter Nile is likely to find a place in the playing eleven. His array of variations will be useful at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. He played one match in the first half of the tournament against the Rajasthan Royals. The Australian would be expecting to get more opportunities in UAE.

Rahul Chahar

Rahul Chahar looked like the most dangerous spinner in the first leg of IPL 2021. He was the go-to bowler for Rohit Sharma as he won MI matches singlehandedly. In 7 matches, Chahar claimed 11 wickets at an average of 18.36. Owing to his sensational performances, Chahar has also been recently included in India’s T20 World Cup squad.

Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah would continue to lead the fast bowling unit. He is, once again, going to be important to the Mumbai Indians’ fortune in the second half of the tournament. Bumrah, so far, has managed to pick 6 wickets in 7 matches at an average of 32.

Trent Boult

Trent Boult would continue to share the new ball alongside Jasprit Bumrah in IPL 2021. He has been vital to Mumbai Indians’ success in the last couple of years. Boult has picked 8 wickets in 7 matches in IPL 2021 season thus far.
