Amongst the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Kumar Sangakkara, Cameron White, Darren Sammy, and Kane Williamson, only David Warner has captained the team to an IPL title. The left-handed batsman has expressed his wish to reach the final in IPL 2021, too, after marginally missing out last year.

David Warner led his team to the IPL title back in 2016 when SunRisers Hyderabad faced Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final in Bengaluru. The southpaw spearheaded the Orange Army’s performance with the bat, top-scoring with 69 off 38 deliveries. Warner’s half-century, followed by Ben Cutting’s death-over onslaught, enabled their side to 208. SunRisers overcame Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli to pick up a win by eight runs.
SunRisers Hyderabad also reached the tournament-decider in 2018; however, they lost to the Chennai Super Kings comprehensively when Shane Watson blasted a hundred. The 2020 edition saw them competing for a final spot against Delhi Capitals in the second qualifier. The Orange Army lost by 17 runs despite Kane Williamson’s fighting half-century and Abdul Samad’s powerful hitting.
