Royal Challengers Bangalore’s swashbuckling batsman, Glenn Maxwell spoke about his delightful journey so far in the IPL 201 with a new franchise. Despite his poor show with the bat last season – 108 runs in 13 games without a single six – RCB splashed out Rs 14.25 Crore for the Australian.
Glenn Maxwell, who has mostly batted in the lower order as a finisher in his previous franchises, has been promoted to number 4 at RCB – the move has worked like a charm for both the player and the team.
Glenn Maxwell has repaid the franchise’s faith with 3 brilliant innings in as many games having scored more runs – 176 – already this season than he did in the entire season last year.

The 32-year-old feels “at home since day one” of joining RCB and lauds its coaching staff as well. With the assurance of AB de Villiers at number 5, Glenn Maxwell was promoted to bat at 4, also providing help to Virat Kohli, who is opening this season; the all-rounder feels it’s his responsibility to help his skipper, as RCB aim for their maiden IPL title.
“I felt like I have been right at home since day one, the coaching staff have been extremely supportive so have the players, it has been great fun so far,” Glenn Maxwell said in a video posted on the franchise’s official Twitter handle.
“It is just about taking one of the responsibilities off Virat’s shoulders. He has got a lot of things to do out there, to sort of control what fielders need to be at what positions is one thing he does not have to worry about,” he added.
It’s going to be exciting if we can get going at Wankhede: Glenn Maxwell

RCB has left Chennai with 3 wins in their bag in 3 games and remains the only unbeaten side in the tournament so far and will take the field at the Wankhede on Thursday against Rajasthan Royals.
There have been plenty of high-scoring encounters in Mumbai so far this season; Glenn Maxwell is hoping that RCB could continue its supreme form and put on huge totals in Mumbai.
“The conditions are a bit different here at the Wankhede. There have been some high scores scored here, so for our batting group, it is going to be exciting if we can get going and continue to add to those high totals,” Glenn Maxwell stated.
