IPL 2021: Glenn Maxwell Might Just End Up Being Player Of The Tournament - Michael Vaughan

Former England captain, Michael Vaughan believes that Glenn Maxwell could bag the most valuable player of the IPL 2021. Michael Vaughan’s comment comes in just half an hour after the game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders commenced in Chennai on Sunday.
Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first. Not to anyone’s surprise, Eoin Morgan started with spin from both ends considering the Chennai pitch as well as Kohli’s recent troubles against the tweakers.
Harbhajan Singh bowled the first over; but it was the mystery spinner, Varun Chakravarthy, KKR’s leading wicket-taker last season, who struck twice in the second over with wickets of Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar. At 9/2, RCB team was in trouble.

Came out Glenn Maxwell, fresh from his match-winning half-century versus Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous game at the same venue. And he came out swinging, looking for fences against the KKR spinners – an approach fraught with risk, especially on this pitch, but that is how Maxwell has carved his career.
He attacked Shakib Al Hasan, then Pat Cummins and Prasidh Krishna, and finally Chakravarthy as well; the Australian brought up his fifty in just 28 balls, on a pitch where opener Devdutt Padikkal struggled for timing for his 28-ball-25.
Glenn Maxwell has made a significant impact in all the three innings for RCB so far – he scored 39 off 28 against Mumbai Indians – and therefore, Michael Vaughan opines that the Australian might just become the Player of the Tournament, despite being under the shadow of Kohli and AB de Villiers.
