IPL 2021 franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) co-owner Parth Jindal has said that if ever there was a statue that would be placed outside the Delhi Stadium of any of the DC players he chose Amit Mishra as his first-choice.

Amit Mishra had started his Indian Premier League (IPL) career with the Delhi franchise back in IPL 2008 when they were known as Delhi Daredevils and were captained by Virender Sehwag. He has continued his career with various other franchises in due course but returned to the Delhi team in IPL 2020.

He had a very good season cut short in IPL 2020 in the UAE as he fractured his finger in the bowling hand and had to return back home. Though he has only played 2 matches this far in the IPL 2021 edition for Delhi, he has left a lasting impression on the team’s co-owner, fans, and cricket experts.

There Is No Doubt In My Mind That The First Statue That Will Go Up For Us Delhi Capitals Will Be That Of Amit Mishra: Parth Jindal

Leg-spinner Amit Mishra spun a web over Mumbai Indians (MI) before Shikhar Dhawan and Steve Smith played knocks of 45 and 33 respectively as Delhi Capitals registered a win at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

Amit Mishra ended up with figures of 4/24 in 4 overs. He created a record with this four-wicket haul, as it was his seventh such haul of four wickets or more in T20 cricket, the most by any Indian bowler in the format. He has 5 four-wicket hauls and 2 five-wicket hauls to his name in his career of 234 T20s, where he has 260 wickets with the best bowling of 5/17.

Mishra is also the only bowler to have three hat-tricks in the Indian Premier League (IPL), with one of that coming for the Delhi franchise as well. He is the second-highest wicket-taker in the history of the IPL as he has 164 wickets to his name from 152 matches, behind Lasith Malinga’s 170 wickets in 122 matches for MI.

Speaking after this performance from Amit Mishra, DC co-owner Parth Jindal praised the leg-spinner a lot and said that if the IPL franchises were allowed to put up statues outside their home stadiums, the first statue that Delhi Capitals will put up will be of Amit Mishra.

“If IPL teams are ever allowed to put up statues outside their home stadiums by the @BCCI and state cricket bodies – there is no doubt in my mind that the first statue that will go up for us @DelhiCapitals will be that of @MishiAmit – what a wonderful player he has been for Delhi!,” tweeted Jindal.
