Left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed feels that Kane Williamson and Rashid Khan are the two players who can “change the fortunes” for Sunrisers Hyderabad this year as the David Warner-led side prepares to clinch their second IPL title. SRH have qualified for the playoffs every season since their title winning effort in 2016, but couldn’t get their hands on the trophy.
Khaleel Ahmed, who has been with the franchise since 2018, speaks about the strength of SRH’s overseas contingent comprising of skipper Warner, Williamson, Rashid alongside Jonny Bairstow, Jason Holder, Jason Roy, Mohammad Nabi, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. He heaps praises on the Kiwi skipper and the Afghanistan leg-spinner.
“I am sure we can win the title this time. SRH will hope for a solid start from Warner and Bairstow. They can demolish any bowling attack in the world. We have Kane Williamson who is the best at playing spin bowlers. He is the best overseas player of spin. Kane will play a key role for SRH this season,” Khaleel Ahmed told Times Of India.
I would pick Kane Williamson and Rashid Khan as the two players who can change the Sunrisers’ fortunes. They are so talented. Give Rashid any batsman or give Kane any bowler, they will do the job for Sunrisers,” he added.
IPL will decide my place in the Indian team: Khaleel Ahmed
Khaleel Ahmed is eyeing the IPL 2021 as a pathway to make a return to the Indian team – the 23-year-old last played in India colors in November 2019. He has featured in 11 ODIs and 14 T20Is snapping up 15 and 13 wickets respectively; he has been replaced by other seamers, and is not even in the fray anymore.
However, the Rajasthan pacer still dreams of making a cut for the T20 World Cup, and for that, he believes, form in the IPL 2021 will be crucial. SRH commence their campaign on April 11th against Eoin Morgan’s KolkataKnight Riders in Chennai.
“I worked a lot on my bowling action and also in-swing deliveries. I worked on my fitness as well. You will see different variations this time. I am aiming for a good IPL season. If I have a good IPL season, then I am sure you will see me back in India colours. I want to win as many matches for my team as possible.
“IPL will decide my place in the Indian team. I have really worked hard and you will see a different Khaleel in the tournament. I am hopeful of making the cut for the T20 World Cup,” the pacer stated.
