IPL 2021: Need Time To Look Into What Went Wrong And Understand: Sanju Samson On RR’s 10-Wicket Loss To RCB

Rajasthan Royals’ Captain Sanju Samson has said that RR need to go back and look into what went wrong after the team is finding themselves on the path of destruction once again in the IPL 2021 edition after they lost their recent match to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by a margin of 10 wickets.
Sanju Samson’s RR lost the toss to Virat Kohli of RCB and was asked to bat first on a flat Mumbai track. It was a challenge to put a huge score on this venue as twice, totals of almost 220 plus were in danger of being chased down. However, it was not to be for RR as they found themselves 43/4 in 7 overs.
This included Jos Buttler for 8, Manan Vohra for 7, David Miller for a duck, and captain Sanju Samson for 21 runs. The Royals couldn’t recover from that collapse at the start and despite contributions from Shivam Dube (46), Riyan Parag (25) and Rahul Tewatia (40), Royals could manage 177/9 in 20 overs.
Mohammed Siraj and Harshal Patel picked three wickets each and then RCB openers demolished the Rajasthan bowlers, by hitting them to all parts of the Wankhede Stadium and not letting them pick even a single wicket.
Virat Kohli ended on 72* with 6 fours and 3 sixes, while Devdutt Padikkal scored his maiden IPL century with 101* from 52 balls with 11 fours and 6 sixes to his name as RCB made 181 in just 16.3 overs, winning the game by 10 wickets.
I Am Sure We Will Comeback Well: Sanju Samson
During the after-match interview, Sanju Samson was asked to react to the RCB innings which dominated RR’s bowling and he could only praise the knocks from Virat and Padikkal. He also said that the Rajasthan Royals need some time to introspect on what went wrong in this match and come back stronger.
“They batted really well. We did well to get that score on the board after the early wickets. We need to go back and do some homework. We need to be honest with ourselves and come back better. Need time to look into what went wrong and understand, I am sure we will comeback well. This game… It puts you down but you need to find a way and come out better,” said Samson.
Rajasthan Royals are now back on the bottom of the points table of IPL 2021 and will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 24 in Mumbai.
