One of the most-talked-about incidents in IPL 2020 was Rajasthan Royals’ batsman Riyan Parag’s Bihu dance after leading his team to a crushing victory. Riyan Parag performed the traditional Assamese Bihu dance after hitting a winning shot that cleared the Dubai Stadium comfortably. Ahead of IPL 2021, the youngster has revealed the player he wants to perform the Bihu dance step with.
The incident occurred in the 26th match of IPL 2020 when Rajasthan Royals battled SunRisers Hyderabad at the Dubai International Stadium. Chasing 159, the Royals looked down and out at 78-5 before Riyan Parag and Rahul Tewatia added an unbeaten 85 to script a stunning five-wicket win. Parag finished with 42 off 26 balls, consisting of two fours and as many sixes. He also taught Rahul Tewatia the step after the match.
While answering a fan’s question, Riyan Parag admitted that he wants to make Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli do the Bihu dance. The 19-year old said that Virat Kohli has always been his role model and also admire him as a human being.
“Yeah, I want to make Virat Kohli do Bihu. My role model has always been Virat Kohli. I admire him as a player of course, but even more as a human being. So, it’s Virat Kohli,” Parag responded to a question posted on Rajasthan Royals’ Youtube page.
Those two shots I really want to learn: Riyan Parag
The Assam-born cricketer stated that he wants to emulate Virat Kohli’s cover drive and his teammate Jos Buttler’s scoop. Simultaneously, Parag feels that even though he wants to learn, he cannot; hence, it’s cool.
“Can I name two? Okay, I’ll name two. One, the Virat Kohli cover drive. And two, the Jos Buttler scoop. Those two shots I really want to learn. But I know I can’t, so it’s cool,” he added.
