Adil Rashid has become England’s main spinner in white-ball cricket and has picked 159 ODI wickets and scalped 65 more in the T20I format for the Three Lions in his glittering career.
Adil Rashid was the joint-highest wicket-taker in England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) inaugural competition The Hundred.
Rashid claimed 12 wickets from seven matches for Nothern Superchargers to join Adam Milne, Marchant de Lange and Rashid Khan in the list of most wickets in the tournament.
Adil Rashid signed by Punjab Kings for the second leg of IPL 2021
After his stellar performance in the Hundred, IPL franchise Punjab Kings named Adil Rashid as the replacement of Australian pacer Jhye Richardson in the second leg of IPL 2021. Rashid was taken to the cleaners by Rajasthan Royals youngsters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mahipal Lomror.
The leg-spinner yielded 35 runs from the three overs he bowled without taking any wicket in his first IPL match against Rajasthan Royals.
Adil Rashid is a very clever bowler: Sunil Gavaskar
Former Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar feels that Rashid has many variations in his repertoire and if remains consistent he could bag a big contract in the 2022 mega-IPL auctions.
“He’s a very clever bowler, Adil Rashid. We have seen him in limited-overs international. He varies the deliveries nicely. He bowls a different line to the left-hander, different to the right-hander taking the ball away from them so that if they are looking for a big hit, they would want to hit it against the turn so that would sky the ball in the air,” Gavaskar said on Star Sports.
“He’s a very, very clever bowler. I’m not surprised that he’s gotten those 12 wickets (in The Hundred). What’s surprising is that he wasn’t part of any of the franchises early on. There is a big auction coming in 4 months’ time and this is the time for him to prove himself. Not just him; in fact, all the players in every single franchise know that if they want the big bucks, they have got to perform now,” the former India batsman added.
Rashid was dropped from Punjab Kings’ team in their last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad as KL Rahul went with youngster Ravi Bishnoi, who returned with the figures of 3/24 from his quota of four overs.
