In the 40th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 between Kane Williamson-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Monday, September 27, team Sunrisers Hyderabad won the game by 7 wickets to register their second victory of the season.
The Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals were entering the game with a 33 run loss in the previous game against Delhi Capitals (DC). On the other hand, Kane Williamson’s Sunrisers Hyderabad was entering the game with a humiliating loss against Punjab Kings (PBKS).
Notably, the skipper of team Rajasthan Royals (RR) Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bat first. Star all-rounder Chris Morris and Opener Evin Lewis who missed the last game made a comeback. Also injured pacer Kartik Tyagi who was having a great run with the team was replaced by Jaydev Unadkat.
Meanwhile, on the Sunrisers Hyderabad side, there were plenty of changes as, Jason Roy replaced David Warner, Manish Pandey and Kedar Jadhav were dropped and Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma were added. Meanwhile, fast bowler Siddarth Kaul replaced injured left-arm pacer, Khaleel Ahmed.
Batting first Rajasthan Royals (RR) lost the wicket of Evin Lewis in the first ball of the second over. However, after that Yashasvi Jaiswal and Skipper Sanju Samson batted brilliantly and added 56 runs from 45 balls, before opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (36) was bowled by Sandeep Sharma. Soon Liam Livingstone was also sent back to the dugout by Rashid Khan.
However, after that the Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson played an outstanding knock. He added a half-century partnership with Mahipal Lomror in no time. In the end, RR posted 164 runs on the board at the loss of 5 wickets.
Meanwhile, during the chase Sunrisers Hyderabad openers Jason Roy and Wriddhiman Saha batted brilliantly and had a 57 runs partnership. After Saha’s wicket, Explosive English opener Jason Roy was joined by SRH skipper Kane Williamson and they too added 50+ runs in no time. However, after that Chetan Sakariya broke the partnership by dismissing Jason Roy 60(42). Meanwhile, in the end, Kane Williamson smashed a boundary to help his team win the match.
