Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper, was pleased with the way his side registered an 8-wicket win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Wednesday in Dubai.

DC chased down the target of 135 with 13 balls to spare and climb to the top of the table, replacing the Chennai Super Kings, with their 7th win of the season.

Pant himself announced a return to form with a quick-fire 35* off 21 so did Shreyas Iyer who remained unbeaten on 47; Shikhar Dhawan continued from where he left off in May with a 42-run knock. Focusing on the process and giving 100% every day remains the mantra for the Pant, who has been retained as the skipper.

“We discussed that we had a good first phase, and we are happy to start the second phase this way. We said the same thing about focusing on the process and giving it 100% every day,” Rishabh Pant said at the post-match conference.

They’re great assets to have: Rishabh Pant on Rabada and Nortje

The win for DC was set up in the first innings by Anrich Nortje’s 2/12, Kagiso Rabada’s three-wicket haul. The South African pair made breakthroughs throughout the game and didn’t let the SRH batsmen settle and halting them for a below-par total; Axar Patel bagged a couple of wickets as well.

Rishabh Pant was full of praise for the two fast bowling men, hailing them as “great assets”.

“It’s a good bowling performance because we thought 150-160 would have been a good total, so 130-something was a good score to restrict them to. We have one of the quickest bowlers in the world so I think they’re great assets to have.

The Capitals travel to Abu Dhabi next where they will meet Rajasthan Royals on Saturday afternoon. Hyderabad will go to Sharjah to take on the Punjab Kings on Saturday evening.
