IPL auctions often give many surprises to fans and experts. Eoin Morgan is the skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders. After a miserable show in the first leg of IPL 2021, the team bounced back in the UAE leg to find a place among the top 4 teams. However, Eoin Morgan was often criticized for his wrong and ineffective decisions as a skipper.

The franchise might seek to find a  new skipper in the next season and hence release the England player from the team. After his poor batting show in IPL 2021, Eoin Morgan might find it difficult to attract a buyer in IPL 2022 mega auction. In 13 innings in IPL 2021, the right-handed batsman scored 124 runs at an average of just 12.40 and failed to hit even a single half-century.

In IPL 2021, he could score 193 runs in 10 innings at an average of 21.44. He also failed to hit a single half-century. Hence, due to his growing age and inefficiency in batting, franchises might overlook Chris Gayle during next year’s mega auction.

Ravichandran Ashwin is another player who might go unsold during next year’s mega auction. Although Ashwin is a powerful spin bowler in the Test format, his strength in the T20 format is not quite effective. In IPL 2021, the right-arm spinner played 12 matches for his team Delhi Capitals.

Ashwin managed to pick just 5 wickets after bowling in 12 matches. He had an average of 60.80 and a strike rate of 7.44. Ashwin will be definitely not part of the list that the Delhi Capitals will retain next year. Hence, he will head to the mega auction where he might go unsold.
