The Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) started their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 UAE leg in the worst possible manner. As RCB were defeated by Eoin Morgan’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi by 9 wickets. However, after the humiliating loss, Captain Virat Kohli fulfilled his role of the leader and was seen motivating the squad in the dressing room.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and opted to bat first and the decision turned out to be a horrible one for the team. As big names like Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Ab de Villiers failed to contribute good runs with the bat, the opener of RCB Devdutt Padikkal was the top scorer with 22 runs under his belt.

Overall, Varun Chakravarthy and Andre Russell dismantled the batting unit of the Bangalore franchise and stopped them at the score of 92.

When knight riders came to bat they dominantly started the chase and openers Shubman Gill and debutant Venkatesh Iyer looked brilliant. They played aggressive knocks and in the end, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) chased the target in just 10 overs.

After the disappointing outcome, Virat Kohli urged his Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) teammates to accept the loss and move on. Also, he wanted his team to bounce back strong when next time they step foot on that field.

We are better off accepting it immediately and being at peace with it. Not meaning that we don’t look forward to the next one but, it should give us more hunger to get on to the field again. And play the cricket that we have already played in this tournament.

It’s about accepting that this kind of a game will happen at some stage. There is no reason why we should react differently to losses. We have to stay pretty balanced as a team if we have to go all the way,” Kohli could be heard saying in the RCB dressing room after the match.

Team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are still in a good position in the points table as they are placed at the number 3 spot with 5 wins in 8 games. However, RCB’s Net Run Rate(-0.706) is the worst among all the teams. This can be a big problem for the team heading into the final stages of the game.
