Mumbai Indians Eliminated Out Of IPL 2021 As They Fail To Overtake KKR's Net Run Rate.

The most successful franchise in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Mumbai Indians (MI), have been eliminated out of IPL 2021 after failing to overtake KKR’s Net Run Rate in the game against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). Notably, Mumbai Indians had walked in this game knowing the fact that they needed to win the toss and bat first and win the game by a margin of 171 runs to qualify for the IPL 2021 playoffs.

Rohit Sharma did win the toss for the MI Platan and Mumbai smashed the highest score of IPL 2021 as they finished on 235 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav were once again the stars for the Mumbai-based franchise as both these batsmen managed to score 166 runs combined at an astonishing strike rate of 230.56.

When the teams went to their dugouts at the halfway mark, Mumbai were supposed to dismiss the entire SRH unit at 64 runs or below. However, a fiesty start from Jason Roy and Abhishek Sharma meant there was only one way for Mumbai to walk and that was to walk out of the tournament without a berth in the playoff spot.

Chasing a target of 236 runs, Abhishek Sharma and Jason Roy gave SRH a fearsome start as they managed to complete the team’s 50 in just 4.3 overs. Until this report was written, Abhishek Sharma had scored 25 runs off 11 balls while Jason Roy was batting at 30 runs off just 19 balls. SRH had managed to score 60 runs in their 5 overs.
