The 16th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Wankhede Stadium. Virat Kohli, the RCB captain, committed a hilarious mistake during the toss, showing how much he believes in his luck during the coin toss.
Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli walked away after flipping the coin during the toss, even though it was ruled in his favor. Both the teams are facing each other for the first time in this edition of IPL, while it is also the first match for RCB in Mumbai, who are coming after winning all three of their matches in Chennai.
I Am Not Used To Winning Tosses: Virat Kohli
The hilarious goof-up happened as Virat Kohli tossed the coin up and Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson called tails. The match referee called it heads and Kohli shook hands with Samson and let Samson go up to talk with presenter Ian Bishop.
He had thought that he had lost another toss and it wasn’t until Bishop called Virat Kohli to come up to speak to him, that the RCB skipper realized that he had won the toss.
“Did I win the toss? Sorry. I am not used to winning tosses!”, the RCB captain said with a sheepish smile.
Kohli decided to bowl first on the Mumbai wicket and cited the dew problem in the second half in previous matches and called the venue a high-scoring one. Looking to make the most with the new ball, Kohli lavished praise for the batting unit which has been firing in unison thus far.
“Have seen results here whether there’s dew or not. Still continues to be a high scoring ground. Last night we saw even if you lose early wickets, just one partnership and you’re never far in the game. Been batting well as a group. Confident we can chase anything down. At the same time we’re bowling well as well. Just want to get into this pitch and conditions with the new ball and try and exploit whatever we can,” Kohli said at the toss.
