Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper and opening batsman, Rohit Sharma, became the first player in the IPL to score 1000 runs or more against a single team. He achieved the feat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during Match 34 of IPL 2021 between the two teams.
Rohit’s tally includes runs scored for Deccan Chargers and MI in a total of 29 matches. His highest score of 109*, which also happens to be his only century in the league, came against KKR at what is termed as his favorite ground, Eden Gardens.
Against KKR, he averages 48.04 which includes six fifties. This average is by far his best against a side in the IPL, with second-best being a distant 35.60 against the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS). He has quite a few memorable knocks against the Kolkata franchise, none bigger than his maiden century.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Suresh Raina is the next on the list with 955 runs against the same opponents, KKR. David Warner features twice in the top-5 run-scorers against a single opponent, having scored 943 runs against Kings XI (now Punjab Kings) and 915 runs against KKR.
Rohit Sharma’s calendar year so far
Rohit has been in fine form of late in all three formats. He was India’s best batsman during their tour of England. He was also their most reliable player when the English team toured India in February-March earlier this year.
The Mumbaikar didn’t play against CSK in the first match of the second leg of IPL 2021. However, he recovered from his niggle and took the field against his favorite team, KKR.
He is currently batting on 30* alongside his opening partner, Quinton de Kock, against KKR. Rohit has so far amassed 250 runs in seven IPL games this season. It hasn’t been one of his best but he continues to be one of MI’s trump cards.
