IPL 2021: Updated Points Table, Orange Cap, And Purple Cap Table After DC vs CSK

The 50th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 between top two ranked sides; MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) commenced at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday, 4 October.

Notably, Delhi Capitals won the match by 3 wickets to become the number one ranked side in the points table.

Chennai Super Kings were entering the match with a defeat against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the last match. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals won their last encounter against Mumbai Indians (MI).

Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to field first. Both the teams made some notable changes in the playing XI. As Ripal Patel made his debut for Delhi Capitals and Steve Smith was dropped from the team.

On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings made 3 big changes, they added Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar and Robin Uthappa as replacements for Sam Curran, KM Asif and injured Suresh Raina.

Chennai Super Kings started pretty well by scoring 16 runs in the first over but lost the wickets of openers Faf Du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad before the powerplay ended.

Also, Moeen Ali was unable to fire with the bat and lost his wicket to Axar Patel in the 8th over and in the very next over Robin, Uthappa was caught and bowled by Ravichandran Ashwin.

However, Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu carried forward the inning of Chennai Super Kings adding 70 runs from 64 balls with Ambati Rayudu contributing 51 off 37 and Dhoni contributing 18 off 27. In the end, Chennai Super Kings posted 136 runs on the board at the loss of 6 wickets. Meanwhile, Axar Patel was the best bowler from Delhi Capitals as he bagged 2 wickets.

Meanwhile, Chasing the target Delhi Capitals lost Prithvi Shaw in 3rd over itself. Furthermore, Shreyas Iyer was dismissed in the last over of powerplay after scoring only 2 runs. However, Shikhar Dhawan stood strong on one end and kept scoring good runs. But Shardul Thakur was able to pick the wicket of Delhi Capitals opener Shikhar Dhawan in the 15th over.

In the end, Shimron Hetmyer and Kagiso Rabada marched Delhi Capitals towards victory in the thrilling encounter.
