Sri Lankan players Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera were released from the IPL bio-bubble by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise. The duo will join the Sri Lankan team for their upcoming warmup matches ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Prior to their signing, it was made clear that both Hasaranga and Chameera will not be available for the playoffs. They were signed as replacements heading into the second leg of the IPL 2021 season. Chameera didn’t get a chance to play a single game.

As for Hasaranga, he couldn’t have much of an impact. The 23-year-old played just two matches in the season and failed to pick up a wicket. The RCB franchise made the official announcement on its Twitter page.

RCB will be up against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Eliminator on Monday. The match will take place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium where both of them have a good record in this leg. The winner will go on to play Delhi Capitals (DC) in Qualifier 2.

As for Sri Lanka, they are clubbed alongside The Netherlands, Namibia, and Ireland in Group A of the qualifiers for the T20 World Cup. They recently finished their 2-match T20I series against the hosts, Oman. The Lankans managed to pull through in both games courtesy of good batting performances.
