On-field umpires made a huge mistake over a wide-ball during the Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match of IPL 2021. During the 20th over of Mumbai Indians’ batting, Jason Holder bowled a bouncer to Suryakumar Yadav that went over his head. However, umpires did not call it a wide and rather termed it a bouncer.

Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan played fabulous knocks in the match. Ishan Kishan smacked 84 runs off 32 balls to give a quickfire start to Mumbai Indians. Suryakumar Yadav came up with a score of 82 off 40 balls. Both helped Mumbai Indians to reach mammoth 235-9 on the scoreboard in the 1st innings.

Suryakumar Yadav was smashing sixes and boundaries against Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers in the death overs. SRH all-rounder Jason Holder bowled the final over against MI. Holder dismissed Piyush Chawla on the 1st delivery of the over. He beat Yadav on the 2nd ball.

The 3rd bowl was overhead wide which passed way over Suryakumar’s Yadav’s head. Yadav was quite sure about umpires calling it wide and also gestured it with his hands. However, to his surprise, the leg umpire called it a bouncer and not a wide. The MI batsman was totally unsatisfied over the umpire’s call. Have a look at the video below.

Suryakumar Yadav was later dismissed by Jason Holder on the very next ball. During his 82-run knock, he slammed 3 sixes and 13 boundaries. Earlier, Ishan Kishan smacked the fastest half-century of IPL 2021. He reached his half-century in just 16 balls. At 84, Umran Malik dismissed him with an edge that went into wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha’s gloves.

Mumbai Indians need to defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by a margin of 171 runs, a task that looks almost impossible to the team. The stats suggest that MI need to bowl out SRH for just 65 to earn a better net run rate than Kolkata Knight Riders.

KKR currently take the 4th spot in IPL 2021 points table with 14 points. They defeated Rajasthan Royals by 86 runs in their final match of group stage. KKR have a far better run rate than MI and they are highly likely to clinch a place in the playoffs. MI have 12 points in their kitty and even after defeating SRH, they have very little chance of making it to the playoffs.
