Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) won the toss & opted to bowl first. CSK posted a mammoth total of 217-7 as the openers Ruturaj Gaikwad & Devon Conway got the team to a rollicking start. Moeen Ali was getting into the groove but was undone by Ravi Bishnoi. Moeen Ali scored 19 runs in 13 balls & struck 3 fours.

LSG got off to a rollicking start as Kyle Mayers scored yet another breezy half-century as LSG scored 80 runs in the power-play overs for the loss of 1 wicket. Kyle Mayers became the first player to smash back-to-back half-centuries in the first two innings in the history of IPL where there was some sheer stroke play from him.

Marcus Stoinis & Nicholas Pooran slowly started putting the run chase back on track. The spinners Mitchell Santner & Moeen Ali were getting ample help from the surface as they cramped the batters for room and made sure that they don’t bowl any freebies.

Moeen Ali deceives Marcus Stoinis

Moeen Ali was bowling the 14th over and on the 2nd delivery, he bowled an off-break on the middle stump as Stoinis went way far back into the crease and was a bit late to play the shot as his leg stump was thrashed. It’s a huge wicket for CSK, the partnership between Marcus Stoinis & Nicholas Pooran was looking threatening. Stoinis was dismissed for 21 runs in 18 balls & struck 1 six.

The introduction of Moeen Ali did wonders for CSK as he took key wickets of Kyle Mayers, KL Rahul, Krunal Pandya & Marcus Stoinis and slowed down the run rate. Moeen Ali proved to be the surprise package for LSG. The peculiarity of Moeen Ali was that he bowled wicket to wicket & forced the batter to play shots out of their comfort zone. LSG’s score at that time was 130-5 in 13.2 overs.

Exciting finish on cards

LSG would be banking on the impact player Ayush Badoni & Nicholas Pooran. Nicholas Pooran has shown that he can take on any bowler as his wicket would be quite pivotal. LSG fans would be hoping that the duo stays till the 17th over as we have witnessed that 15 runs per over can also be chased.

CSK skipper MS Dhoni astonishingly hasn’t introduced the star left-arm off-spinner Ravindra Jadeja into the attack. Jadeja has the knack of not only wrapping up the over quickly but can outclass the batters with his variations. CSK would be aiming to wrap up the innings quickly.
