DC vs SRH: "It's Something Different For Me" - Harry Brook Speaks On Opening The Innings For Sunrisers Hyderabad

Harry Brook, the young batter of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), has shared his experience of opening the innings in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season.

Harry Brook, who has previously batted in the middle order, admitted that opening the innings is something different for him, but he is enjoying the challenge.

He added that he needs to be positive in the powerplay and try to go above the top, but he won’t change his approach too much. Harry Brook emphasized the importance of being positive with the bat and taking risks in the powerplay.

He said that the team would rather get out caught in the deep than get stumped or struck in the crease lbw. He hoped to score a big score against DC and gain valuable experience against their top bowlers.

Just Got To Be Positive: Harry Brook

In an interview ahead of the match against Delhi Capitals (DC), Harry Brook said that he hasn’t executed his game plan consistently as an opener, but he was happy to score a century against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the middle of the season.

“It’s something different for me (opening), going out there with a slightly different game plan. I haven’t executed as I wanted to consistently, but to get a big score in the middle of this half (century vs KKR) was nice. Just got to be positive (in the powerplay), One day can be your day, the next day maybe not. In the future I will try thinking of going above the top, but I to be honest I won’t change much.”

“Need to be positive with the bat, we’d rather get out caught in the deep (near the boundary), rather than getting stumped or struck in the crease lbw. Hopefully can get a big score tonight. Every experience against the new ball is worthwhile, especially against some of the best bowlers, looking forward to tonight.”

“He is a big player for us Washi (Sundar), batting wise and his bowling speaks for himself. I am not sure what the team is, but I’m pretty sure they have made the plans and done it right.”

SRH have had a tough season so far, winning only two out of their nine matches. However, Harry Brook remains positive and believes that every experience against the new ball is worthwhile. He is looking forward to the challenge of facing DC.
