IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Players Above 30 Years Which Gujarat Titans (GT) Can Target. Against all expectations, Gujarat Titans went on to win IPL 2022. No one gave them a chance after the auction ended. However, the management was brilliant with its utilization of resources and tactics.

The team had a few issues after the bright start but finished the tournament well. Nevertheless, the opposition teams would now be warier of GT. The Hardik Pandya-led squad will have to make a few changes and that will start with releasing some cricketers like batter Vijay Shankar, pacer Varun Aaron, Afghanistan spinner youngster Noor Ahmad and West Indies all-rounder Dominic Drakes.

IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Players Above 30 Years Which Gujarat Titans (GT) Can Target

Martin Guptill- 36 Years- Sunrisers Hyderabad

The New Zealand opening batsman Martin Guptill last played in 3 games for SunRisers Hyderabad in 2019. He has scored 270 runs in 13 IPL games averaging 22.5 with 1 fifty. He also played 7 games for Punjab in 2017 and 3 games for Mumbai in 2016. The veteran batter hasn’t always fired in the T20 league but is one of the top run-getters in the shortest format of the game.

Be it his attacking style of play or years of experience in T20 cricket, Martin Guptill has the required credentials to directly fit into the Gujarat Titans team. It would help them to add to their opening combination with the likes of Wriddhiman Saha, Matthew Wade, and Shubman Gill in IPL 2023.

Chris Lynn- 32 Years- Mumbai Indians

Another T20 specialist batter who has terrorized bowlers with his attacking style of play for years, Chris Lynn was the most-expensive signing at the IPL mega auction that took place in 2018. Kolkata Knight Riders bought opener, Chris Lynn, for INR 9.6 crore at the 2018 IPL auction. Chris Lynn was bought by Mumbai Indians for INR 2 crore during the 2020 auction. He did well for Mumbai Indians in the limited opportunities he got.

Though the Aussie opener has been inconsistent, the Gujarat Titans might feel him to be worthy of gambling on. Chris Lynn played his last game in IPL 2021, where he scored 49 runs. He featured in only one IPL game in 2021. He has amassed 1329 runs in 42 IPL games averaging 34.08. He has the required credentials to directly fit into the Gujarat Titans team. It would help them to add to their opening combination with the likes of Wriddhiman Saha, Matthew Wade, and Shubman Gill in IPL 2023.

Krunal Pandya- 31 Years- Lucknow Super Giants

The Pandya brothers (Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya) won three IPL titles together at the Mumbai Indians and were a vital cog in their wheels. With two Indian all-rounders who double up as finishers, that’s a massive upswing to the Gujarat Titans’ balance should they manage to get the senior Pandya on board in IPL 2023 auctions. What it does is open up the side to more flexibility, allowing them to play an extra overseas batter or bowler.

He hit the winning runs in the 2020 season that gave Mumbai Indians their fifth title. While he is no longer with Mumbai Indians after being bought by Lucknow Super Giants-LSG for INR 8.25 Crore, he remained a valuable member for the new IPL entrant as he scored 183 runs and also took 10 scalps in 14 games. If he’s released by Lucknow, another new entrant Gujarat may acquire him for IPL 2023.
