Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) retained as many as 18 players and released five during the retention window. The franchise made it to the last four of IPL 2022 and finished fourth on the table having won 8 and losing six games.

Faf du Plessis took over the captaincy from Virat Kohli and took them to the knockouts in his very first term as captain. Being one of the most experienced international captains, RCB is only expected to perform better under him in the next IPL 2023.

The Bengal pacer played five matches for the franchise picking just five wickets and leaking runs at an economy of 10.88 and leaking runs at an average of 41. He made his List A and T20 debut in 2019 for Bengal. His last game for his state side was in the Duleep Trophy against Both Zone playing for East Zone. With almost all franchises having a good set of bowlers, Akash Deep might have found himself unsold.

Rawat plays his domestic cricket for Delhi having moved from Uttarakhand. His explosive style of play in domestic cricket entertained the franchise to bag him in the IPL 2022 mega auctions for as many as 3.4 crores. He played 8 matches for RCB and scored 129 runs at an average of 16.13 in those games.

He made his domestic debut in the 2017-18 season for Delhi. RCB spent the money for his attacking style of play at the top but he was inconsistent in that role. If he would have been released, he would have found it difficult to get a bidder.

The southpaw was roped in for 95 lakhs by RCB. However, his performances for the Royal Challengers Bangalore were not impressive enough. He scored 86 runs in the seven matches he played for an average of 17.20. He is one of the many young players with potential but inexperienced still as a cricketer. Inexperience among young cricketers is one of the key reasons why many of them are ignored in the big IPL auctions.
