IPL 2023 Auction: Australian Pacer Jason Behrendorff Traded From Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) To Mumbai Indians (MI)

The 32-year-old Australia National Cricket Team left-arm pacer Jason Behrendorff has been traded to Mumbai Indians (MI) from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction. The pacer was bought by RCB for INR 75 lakh at the IPL 2022 mega auction.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 player auction, which will be a mini-auction, will be held on December 23 in Kochi and all ten franchises have been asked by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to submit the list of retained players by November 15.

In addition to the money left over from the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction, each team will have an additional INR 5 crore to spend at the Indian Premier League 2023 auction. This will lead to the teams having a purse of INR 95 crore.

In an official statement issued by the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday, November 12, it was stated that the Australian left-arm seamer Jason Behrendorff, who has made his name in the Australian circuit as a new ball specialist, will be representing the 5-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, Mumbai Indians, in the IPL 2023.

“Australian fast bowler Jason Behrendorff has been traded from Royal Challengers Bangalore to Mumbai Indians for the forthcoming TATA IPL Season 2023. He was acquired by RCB in the 2022 TATA IPL Auction for his base price of INR 75 lakh,” IPL stated in an official media release.

Jason Behrendorff has previously been part of the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2018 and 2019. He was acquired by MI in 2018 but was ruled out of the competition due to a back injury. He was retained by the franchise for the next season and he bagged 5 wickets in 5 matches in IPL 2019. He was bought by the Chennai Super Kings in 2021 and by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2022. However, he didn’t get the opportunity to play during his stints with CSK and RCB.
