IPL 2023 auction will soon entertain and surprise cricket fans all over the world as the preparations for IPL 2023 auction are underway. BCCI has announced November 15 as the deadline to submit the final retentions list. Hence, all 10 IPL franchises are in the process of preparing the final draft of retained and released players. A total of 10 teams will play in IPL 2023 next year. Last year, BCCI added two new franchises Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants to Indian Premier League to make it a 10-team tournament. In the next edition two, all the teams will lock horns with each other.

IPL 2023 will also be played in the home and away format. Last time, IPL was played in home and away format was in 2019. Post that, IPL 2021 and IPL 2022 were played at a single venue.

BCCI has not announced the dates for IPL 2023 auction. However, since the last date to submit the retentions list is November 15, the IPL 2023 mini-auction might be conducted in December 2022 or January 2023. The probable date is December 16 currently.

IPL 2023 Auction Venues

Last time, BCCI set Bengaluru as the venue for IPL 2023 auction. This time, BCCI has shortlisted two venues for IPL 2023 mini-auction. They are Bengaluru (India) and Istanbul (Turkey). BCCI will take a final call on IPL auction venue soon.

IPL 2023 Auction Teams

The previous season of Indian Premier League, IPL 2022, witnessed a battle between 10 teams. This time too, 10 teams will be part of the tournament. Hence, the owners of these 10 teams will be part of the auction.

The 10 franchises that will be part of Indian Premier League 2023 auction are Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants, Gujarat Titans, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

IPL 2023 Auction Retained Players

According to BCCI rules, every franchise can retain a total of 15 players in their squad. Hence, they are allowed to release a maximum of 10 players out of 25. Hence, the 2023 IPL auction will be a mini-auction.

IPL 2023 Auction Released Players

Since many teams have players between 18 to 25, not all teams will release 10 players from their current squad. All the franchises will retain 15 maximum players and release the rest of the players.

IPL Salary Cap

All 10 teams will have a salary cap of Rs. 95 crore this time. Last year, the salary cap was 90 crore. Hence, it is increased by Rs. 5 crore this year.

For the live telecast of the IPL 2023 mini-auction, fans can switch to Star Sports Channels. Disney Star has the official broadcast rights for the next edition of IPL 2023 in India. Hence, they will also present the live telecast of the Indian Premier League 2023 auction on television.

Viacom 18 has digital rights for IPL 2023 in India and the Indian subcontinent. Hence, the Voot app will present the live streaming of the auction. Since Star Sports is the official broadcaster, it may also present the match on its official app Disney+ Hotstar.

Rest of the World

Times Internet and Viacom 18 have the rights to broadcast IPL 2023 in countries outside India. Hence, Times Internet and Viacom 18 will present the live telecast and live streaming of the IPL 2023 auction to countries outside the Indian subcontinent.
