IPL 2023 Auction: "Tim David Could Step For Mumbai Indians And Do What Kieron Pollard Was Doing"- Hanuma Vihari

Kieron Pollard‘s sudden retirement from IPL has been quite astonishing. The flamboyant all-rounder was quite instrumental in winning the titles for MI (Mumbai Indians). Pollard though has been appointed as the batting coach of MI which means that he still can contribute to the team.

In the 2022 edition, Pollard had a terrible season with the bat in hand as he managed to score 144 runs in 11 matches where he didn’t manage to score a single 30 runs scored for the team. Pollard was seen struggling mostly against the spinners and was consuming a lot of dot balls where his strike rate was 107.46.

Hanuma Vihari on Kieron Pollard

Hanuma Vihari was having an interaction with Jio Cinema and was asked about Kieron Pollard. “It is a big loss for them(Mumbai Indians). These are big shoes to fill for a player of the stature of Kieron Pollard. You can’t really replace the legend he is in the T20 format. The services he has done for Mumbai Indians, not just as a finisher, but as a fielder and as a leader as well. Five titles with a single team and he has played for one team throughout his career. So that shows the love he had for Mumbai and what Mumbai meant to him. ” said Hanuma Vihari

“I think it is going to be a big task to replace him. One good thing is that he is still in the dugout giving his guidance One thing Mumbai Indians were quite smart about last year was that they picked Tim David as a future replacement for Kieron Pollard. I feel this year Tim David could step up and do the role which Kieron Pollard was doing.” he added.

Kieron Pollard Invaluable

With the new role of batting coach, Kieron Pollard can be more dangerous and threatening as we can expect batters to be more attacking. MI would be well aware of their disastrous 2022 season where they were completely outplayed in all the 3 departments of the game.

Tim David can fill the shoes of Kieron Pollard as he has got some serious power where he can easily rattle any opponent on a given day. It would be interesting to see how MI performs in the 2023 edition as we can expect a lot of changes in the setup.
