England all-rounder Liam Livingstone has missed several cricket matches in 2022 due to ankle and knee injuries and has been sidelined since the Test series against Pakistan. The hard-hitting batsman is hoping to recover from the injury before the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, which is scheduled to take place in April and May.

Livingstone was injured during The Hundred and had to race against time to reach the right fitness level to join England’s World Cup-winning campaign. He made his Test debut against Pakistan in the first match and was ruled out of the remaining matches of the tour due to a knee injury.

He went back to England for rehabilitation under the supervision of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Lancashire medical teams.

Incredibly Disappointing To Have Got Injured – Liam Livingstone

Speaking to Sky Sports, Liam Livingstone said he was very disappointed with the injury and hoped to be back in action for the Punjab Kings in the upcoming edition of the IPL.

“It was incredibly disappointing to have got injured at the time, especially when it’s the crunch time of a tournament. It’s going to be a long few weeks building up from rehab, and hopefully, I’ll be back around the IPL time so I can get back into the swing of things,” Liam Livingstone said.

“It was disappointing [getting injured during The Hundred]. I started the tournament not great and finally got some runs at The Oval. Unfortunately, I had a bit of a freak incident and hurt my ankle,” he added.

The English all-rounder was bought for a whopping INR 11.50 crores at the 2022 mega auction. He had a reasonably good first season with PBKS, scoring 437 runs at a strike rate of 182 and taking six wickets. The franchise decided to retain him for next season.
