Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur is the home ground for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur might be hosting its first-ever IPL match during the upcoming edition, which is scheduled to take place in April and May.
According to reports, the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to split the home games for the Rajasthan Royals this season. The upcoming IPL season will be played in a home-and-away format for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Barkatullah Stadium In Jodhpur Could Host An IPL Match
The Rajasthan Cricket Association expressed their desire to host some RR home games, as they have never hosted an IPL match in the past. However, the Indian Board will send a team to assess the venue and submit its report to the IPL Governing Council.
“It’s a verbal request. We have been told that RCA has rejuvenated the stadium, and have asked us if we can consider Jodhpur as a new venue for a few IPL games. The board will take a call on it only after the recce team submits its report,” a source in the BCCI was quoted in the report.

The association must provide certain basic facilities at each venue to host an IPL game. The size of the boundary, which the BCCI feels is less than the required distance, is their main concern at the Jodhpur ground. Besides Jaipur, the Rajasthan Royals have also played home games at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The RCA hosted a few first-class games in Jodhpur this season. This venue hosted Ranji Trophy games for the first time in nearly two decades, when Rajasthan hosted Chhattisgarh and Services. The 30,000-seat stadium served as the venue for last year’s Legends League cricket and attracted large crowds for the games.
