Ravichandran Ashwin, an all-rounder for India, was one of the players kept by the franchises and will now play once again for Dindigul Dragons in the TNPL.

As the player auction for the 2023 season approaches, there will be a flurry of activity in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). The eight clubs in the TNPL are required by the Governing Council (GC) to enter the auction with a combined budget of 70 lakhs, therefore the franchises are preparing to sign the top players available.

On February 23 and 24, there will be a player auction, giving supporters a thrilling chance to learn which players will be joining which clubs.

The GC has also established rules requiring the franchises to keep a maximum of two players, one player from each of categories A or B and C or D. This guideline aims to provide fair and equal competition, allowing each team to keep its best players while simultaneously fostering the emergence of fresh talent.

Ravichandran Ashwin Launches Talent Hunt Program

After their run in the Ranji Trophy once more came to an early end, the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association started a campaign to find promising bowlers. After making it all the way to the semifinals in the 2016–17 season, Tamil Nadu hasn’t made it past the group stage in any of the previous five competitions.

The initiative, which will concentrate on locating talented bowlers from all throughout the state, has been inaugurated by seasoned Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. The objective of scouts will be to identify undeveloped potential and develop them into state-level athletes.

“There is a lot of talent in the districts of the state (Tamil Nadu). The emergence of T Natarajan is a case in point. And through the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), which has acted as a vehicle for budding talent since its inception, players such as N Jagadeesan and B Sai Sudharsan have come up the ranks,” Ravichandran Ashwin said.
