KKR vs PBKS: "He Is Being Ahead Of Some Other Wicketkeepers" - Sunil Joshi Hails Jitesh Sharma

Former Indian spinner Sunil Joshi is in awe of Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) star Jitesh Sharma for his exploits in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He said that his consistent performances in the league have put him up in the pecking order ahead of other keeper batters in India.

Jitesh Sharma has been one of the emerging talents so far in the IPL 2023. The keeper batter has played impactful innings in almost every game and has been the main reason behind PBKS’ success this season.

Jitesh Sharma is yet to make his India debut but has been part of the setup and with the way he’s performing in the league, it is expected that he would soon don Indian colours in the shortest format of the game.

Sunil Joshi believes that his quality made selectors pick him in the Indian squad in place of Sanju Samson. He highlighted how his consistent performances have put him ahead of few other young players. Speaking to PTI, he said:

“Jitesh has been wonderful. It shows his quality and one of the reasons he was picked in Indian team in place of Sanju Samson. In the last 18 months how he has performed in domestic and IPL and that is the reason he is being ahead of some other wicketkeepers.”

KKR vs PBKS: “His role is to go out and express,” says Sunil Joshi

Sunil Joshi further pointed out that Jitesh Sharma has lived up to his role and his performances were recognized by the selectors who picked him in the team. He explained:

“Jitesh was already in the team in the last T20 series. His role is to go out and express himself with the bat and enjoy, and he has been doing that for Punjab Kings. Lets stick to the T20 format, he has done well consistently in this format in the last two years of IPL. That performance was recognised by the wise people who picked him in the Indian team,” he concluded.

Jitesh Sharma will be next seen in action when Punjab Kings (PBKS) will next take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their next game on Monday (8th May).
