Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni won the toss & opted to bowl first against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Krunal Pandya was captaining the side in the absence of injured KL Rahul. LSG brought back Manan Vohra into the playing 11. Manan Vohra was seen opening the batting along with the destructive batter Kyle Mayers.

The surface at Ekana Cricket Stadium was quite sluggish which may be due to the rain before the start of the match. LSG’s openers were seen struggling to clear the fence. Moeen Ali in the 4th over got the massive wicket of Kyle Mayers and was dismissed on 14 runs in 17 balls.

Manan Vohra was slowly getting into the groove and was seen rotating the strike. Deepak Chahar, the right-arm speedster who came back from injury was a tad too expensive in his outing as he gave away 21 runs in his first 3 overs.

Maheesh Theekshana Bamboozles Manan Vohra

Maheesh Theekshana was bowling the 6th over. On the 4th delivery, Manan Vohra was seen playing a scoop shot but missed it completely as his stumps were thrashed. Manan Vohra was dismissed on 10 runs in 11 balls as he struck 1 four.

LSG’s score at 5.4 overs was 27-2. It looks unlikely that skipper MS Dhoni would bring pacers into the attack, it won’t be wrong to say that the pitch is turning out to be a minefield. Stand-in skipper Krunal Pandya will have to play responsibly.

Steep Road Ahead for LSG

Powerful hitters like Marcus Stoinis & Nicholas Pooran would be tested as their ultra-attacking approach won’t be that fruitful. We witnessed in the last game at this venue how RCB defended 127 against LSG.

CSK on the other side have a golden chance to stamp their authority. MS Dhoni needs to use Jadeja smartly as he has a knack of picking big wickets. CSK would be aiming to restrict LSG below 140 runs as LSG too have got quality spinners present in the team.
