Gujarat Titans (GT) managed to post 135-6 after electing to bat first against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). LSG got off to a blistering start as they scored 53 runs for the loss of no wickets as the duo KL Rahul & Kyle Mayers were seen taking calculative risks. Gujarat Titans‘ (GT) bowlers bowled a lot of freebies in the power-play overs.

The dismissal of Krunal Pandya in the 15th over proved to be the turning point in the match. Krunal Pandya had scored 23 runs in 23 balls as he struck 2 fours & 1 six. KL Rahul & Nicholas Pooran surprisingly weren’t able to clear the fence when the required rate was less than 6.

Hardik Pandya against the run of play got the team back into his game. Hardik Pandya was seen having conversations with head coach Ashish Nehra frequently on the boundary. Hardik’s decision to give Noor Ahmad the 15th & 17th overs worked quite well as he slowed down things and bowled wicket to wicket.

LSG required 12 runs to win from the last over. Mohit Sharma on the 2nd first delivery got the key wicket of KL Rahul by bowling a cutter. LSG required 10 runs to win from 4 balls. Marcus Stoinis came into bat and once again Mohit Sharma deceived him by bowling a short ball as Marcus Stoinis couldn’t read the pace and his catch was taken at long-on by David Miller.

Deepak Hooda tried to take a double on his very first delivery but Ayush Badoni (*non-striker end) couldn’t complete the run. Then, LSG required 9 runs to win from 2 balls. Deepak Hooda this time tried to smash the ball towards deep mid-wicket but couldn’t connect and went for the 2nd run and was run out.

There was absolute chaos at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow as LSG lost 4 wickets in 4 balls and needed 8 runs to win off the last ball. GT became only the second team after SRH in 2013 to bag 4 wickets in 4 balls in IPL.
