Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to a below-par 121-8. SRH batters looked clueless against the spinners. Rahul Tripathi was the pick of the bowlers as he scored 35 runs in 41 balls. In response to the 122 target, SRH’s star pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave away 13 runs in the very first over of the match. Bhuvneshwar Kumar couldn’t control his line & length.

LSG’s openers KL Rahul & Kyle Mayers got the team off to a flyer as they scored 35 runs in the 4 overs & capitalized on loose deliveries. KL Rahul was quite positive in his batting approach. Fazallhaq Farroqi was bowling the 5th over, then he took the key wicket of the dashing left-handed batter Kyle Mayers.

Astonishingly, the pitch didn’t deteriorate & it looked as if LSG were batting on a different surface. We should not forget that LSG’s batters rotated the strike on a consistent basis. SRH skipper Aiden Markram would be aware of the fact SRH can’t win the match if LSG bats out the entire quota of 20 overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar takes a screamer

LSG’s score at the end of 5 overs was 39-1. KL Rahul was on 18 runs in 14 balls & Deepak Hooda’s score was 1 run in 2 balls. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was bowling the 15th over, on the very first delivery Deepak Hooda stepped down the track & smashed a gigantic six over the bowler’s head. Bhuvneshwar Kumar then slowed down things in the next 4 deliveries by bowling dot balls.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar saw that Deepak Hooda was getting a bit impatient.  On the last delivery of the over, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a length delivery & then Deepak Hooda once again stepped out and gave a catch to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Deepak Hooda was dismissed on 7 runs in 8 balls. LSG’s score at the end of 6 overs was 45-2.

Enthralling Contest on Cards

The wicket of Deepak Hooda would have given SRH a sense of confidence that they can still create some panic in the run chase. SRH’s Skipper Aiden Markram would consider bringing Umran Malik into the attack as the speedster can rattle the opposition with his sheer pace.

LSG skipper KL Rahul will have to bat responsibly, a couple of more wickets can put their run chase in jeopardy. Krunal Pandya & KL Rahul need to make sure that they don’t play a string of dot balls. LSG would be eyeing to wrap up the game quickly as later NRR (net run rate) can come into play.
