Ahead of IPL 2023 auction, Lucknow Super Giants submitted their retention list to BCCI. The team has retained 15 players in their squad. Out of these, there are 11 domestic players and 4 overseas players.

Some key domestic players that LSG has retained are Avesh Khan, KL Rahul, Deepak Hooda, and Krunal Pandya. Some key overseas players that Lucknow has retained are Marcus Stoinis, Mark Wood, and Quinton de Kock. Among released players, Evin Lewis and Jason Holder are 2 big names that the team bid goodbye to.

Lucknow Super Giants is one of the two new teams in the Indian Premier League, that joined the tournament last season. The KL Rahul-led side gave an impressive performance in the tournament. After winning 9 games and losing 5 out of 14, they finished in the 3rd place in the points table and qualified for playoffs.
