Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss & opted to bowl first against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Rashid Khan was introduced in the 5th over but conceded 10 runs in his over. Virat Kohli was picking all the variations of Rashid Khan.

RCB scored 62 runs in the first 6 overs for the loss of no wickets as Faf du Plessis & Virat Kohli were slowly getting into the groove. The left-arm off-spinner Noor Ahmad got the priced wicket of RCB skipper Faf du Plessis in the 8th over. Faf du Plessis was dismissed on 28 runs in 19 balls and struck 5 fours.

Hardik Pandya was quite animated on the field and stood behind the bowlers when Virat & Faf dictated the terms. Unexpectedly, there was a turn in the surface as the Chinnaswamy Stadium has a reputation of being a flat track.

Rashid Khan bamboozles Glenn Maxwell

At the end of 8 overs, RCB’s score was 79-1. The shrewd leg spinner Rashid Khan was bowling the 9th over, on the 2nd delivery Rashid Khan bowled a googly which totally surprised Glenn Maxwell and his stumps were shattered.

Maxwell was playing a bit too aggressively and was dismissed on 11 runs in 5 balls and had struck 1 four and 1 six. RCB’s score at 8.2 overs was 80-2 and now the star batter Virat Kohli will have to make sure that he bats till the end of the innings as RCB’s two premier batters are back in the dugout.

Exciting Contest on Cards

GT would sense that they have a great chance to apply brakes on the scoring run rate. We all know that Virat Kohli doesn’t have a good track record in the middle overs phase, especially against spinners and GT skipper Hardik Pandya perhaps might give an over to the part-time spinner Rahul Tewatia.

GT need to pick wickets at regular intervals as RCB have got power-hitters present in the form of destructive batters Michael Bracewell & Dinesh Karthik who can decimate the bowling lineup. The role of Mohammed Shami would be pivotal as the experienced pacer can create havoc.
