Ashish Nehra fires shots at Hardik Pandya with "never tried to convince..." revelation 

Gujarat Titans (GT) head coach Ashish Nehra made a huge statement ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He said that he didn’t even try to convince Hardik Pandya to stay with Gujarat and not go back to his old team Mumbai Indians.

In what was a shell-shocking move after the IPL 2024 auction, Hardik Pandya was traded from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians for INR 15 crore. This move surprised many because the all-rounder ahead of the IPL 2022 moved to Gujarat and was given the leadership.

Hardik Pandya did a terrific job as a leader for Gujarat Titans as he guided the team to the title win in the first season itself. He led from the front as well as he scored over 400 runs and also picked wickets with the ball. His impressive run continued next season as well.

Hardik Pandya guided Gujarat Titans to the final of the IPL 2023 before facing a loss against Chennai Super Kings in the summit clash. Many expected that he would lead the team in the next season as well. But that wasn’t the case as him moving to Mumbai Indians was the biggest trade in IPL.

Not only did Hardik Pandya move to Mumbai Indians, but he also got the leadership of the team. The franchise removed Rohit Sharma as a skipper of the team and passed on the baton to an all-rounder. He started his career with Mumbai in 2014 and then stayed with the franchise till 2021.

With Hardik Pandya moving to Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra for the first time opened up about the same. He said that way sport is moving, some more transfers like these will be on the cards. Speaking to PTI, he stated:

“I never tried to convince Hardik to stay back. The way this sport is moving, we will see more such transfers like it happens in soccer’s international club market.”

Hardik Pandya recently opened up about joining the Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2024. He said that the feeling of wearing blue color is very special for him and he will make sure that they will make everyone proud. Speaking in a video posted by the franchise, he stated:

“The feeling of wearing this colour is very special for me. The journey started here, coming back home and playing is always going to be special. We will make sure we will play a brand of cricket which all will be proud of and at the same point of time it’s going to be a ride no one will forget.”

Mumbai Indians have kick-started their training for the IPL 2024. Skipper Hardik Pandya has been putting in the hard yards in the pre-season camp. He would be hoping to guide the team to the 6th title win in the league. They will open their campaign against Gujarat Titans on 24th March.
