Mumbai Indians are well and truly back in the IPL 2024 as they registered their first win of the tournament, having suffered three back-to-back losses. They outclassed Delhi Capitals by 29 runs to bag important two points in the league.

Asked to bat, Mumbai Indians had a powerful start to their innings as skipper Rohit Sharma (49) and Ishan Kishan (42) added 80 runs for the opening partnership. They set the platform for the team but Delhi Capitals made a slight comeback as they picked few quick wickets in the game.

Skipper Hardik Pandya (39) and Tim David (45*) brought Mumbai Indians back into the game with their solid 60-run stand. In the end, it was Romario Shepherd (39*), who stole the limelight and made sure that his team ended with a gigantic total on the board at home ground.

He scored 32 runs in the last over against Anrich Nortje and helped Mumbai Indians post a gigantic total of 234 runs on the board. For Delhi Capitals, Axar Patel was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 2/35 in his quota of 4 overs.

Delhi Capitals lost David Warner (10) early in the chase. But after that, Prithvi Shaw (66) and Abishek Porel (41) batted magnificently well and kept his team in the hunt. They added 88 runs together but couldn't carry on as they lost wickets at crucial junctures of the game.

Tristan Stubbs was the lone warrior for his team in the end. He slammed a vital half-century and kept the hopes of fans alive. But he didn't get the desired support as Delhi Capitals managed just 205 runs and lost the game by the margin of 29 runs to face 4th loss. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 2/22, Gerald Coetzee also bagged four wickets.
