Good news for Hardik Pandya! Suryakumar Yadav's comeback date revealed

Beleaguered Mumbai Indians have received some much-needed good news as their star batsman Suryakumar Yadav is set to return to action in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024).

The five-time IPL champions are in desperate need of their star batsman after making a disastrous start to their campaign. Under new captain Hardik Pandya, Mumbai Indians have lost their first three games and are languishing at the bottom of the points table.

Not only Mumbai Indians’ bowling but their batting has not looked solid either so far. In the first game, they could not chase down 169 against Gujarat Titans despite being 129 for 3 at one stage and went on to lose the game by six runs.

In their second game, they conceded 277/3 against Sunrisers Hyderabad and lost the game by 31 runs. In their third game, Mumbai Indians could only manage 125/9 against Rajasthan Royals at home and lost the game by six wickets.

Suryakumar Yadav set to return:

As Mumbai Indians desperately seek to turn things around, they are looking set to be bolstered by the return of Suryakumar Yadav. The right-handed batsman has reportedly got the green light from the BCCI medical team to play in IPL 2024.

He has not played a competitive game since December last year owing to an ankle injury as well as a sports hernia issue. He had to undergo two surgeries and is yet to return to competitive cricket. He underwent a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) just before the start of IPL 2024 last month but did not get the clearance.

“He is fit now. The NCA made him play a few practice games and he looked good. He can join the Mumbai Indians team.

“We wanted to be sure that when Surya goes back to MI, he is 100 percent fit and ready to play games. He wasn’t feeling 100% during his first fitness Test before the IPL, so we waited to see if there was any pain while he was batting,” a source in the BCCI told the Indian Express.

The report also added that Suryakumar Yadav is likely to feature in Mumbai Indians’ next game which is against Delhi Capitals on Sunday (April 7).
