Gujarat Titans (GT) hosted Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for match 12 of IPL 2024 on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This was the second match for Gujarat Titans and the second away game for SRH.
Gujarat began their campaign with a win against Mumbai Indians. They then lost against CSK. SRH, on the other hand, started their campaign with a narrow 4-run loss to KKR. In the next game, they defeated MI by 31 runs in a match that saw 523 runs being scored.
GT vs SRH IPL 2024 Match 12: Sunrisers Hyderabad Innings- Cumulative batting effort takes SRH to 162/9
Unlike their match against Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad reached a modesty total of 162/8. They reached the total through a cumulative batting effort. Abdul Samad and Abhishek Sharma scored 29 each. Mayank Agarwal (16), Travis Head (19), Aiden Markram (17), Heinrich Klaasen (24), and Shahbaz Ahmed (22) came up with good contributions.
From the Gujarat Titans bowlers’ point of view, Mohit Sharma showed his death bowling skills once again as he took 3/25. Amatullah Omarzai, Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad, and Umesh Yadav took a wicket each. Rashid took the big wicket of Travis Head who scored a blazing 62 in the last game against Mumbai Indians.
Abdul Samad in the mid-innings break spoke about the pitch slowing down a bit and strokemaking not being easy for the new batters. “I think it’s a decent total on this kind of wicket, ball was gripping a bit, the spinners were also getting a bit of help. I was able to play with ease so I thought I should get more strike in the last over. 160 is also a good score” he said in the mid-innings break.
GT vs SRH IPL 2024 Match 12: Gujarat Titans Innings: David Miller’s unbeaten 44 wins it for the Titans after Gill, Sudharsan sets it up
Gujarat Titas had a shaky start to their chase with Wriddhiman Saha (35) and Shubman Gill (36) getting dismissed within the first 10 overs. GT were 74/2 when Sai Sudharsan and David Miller held the fort. Both the southpaws started hitting big shots right from the get-go and added a 50-run stand in quick time. The Titans needed 49 off the final five overs and that was when Miller started struggling to runs. He thus started hitting big shits with 24 runs off the 16th over providing the impetus.
Sudharshan was then dismissed in the 17th over putting an end to a 64-run stand. Vijay Shankar then joined David Miller with GT requiring 25 off 23 balls. The Titans then required 16 off the final three overs. Miller then anchored the chase with an unbeaten 44 as the Titans won their second game at home. The Titans won their second game at home, his time by seven wickets against SRH.
The SRH bowlers really had no answers to some good hitting by the GT batters. David Miller limped but did finish the game for the Titans after skipper Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan set it up for the hosts.
