Former Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh, has come up with a warning message to RCB’s Australia-based batter Glenn Maxwell. Harbhajan  asked Maxwell to beware of the threat posed by CSK left-arm off-spinner Ravindra Jadeja on the track at Chepauk which hosts the opening match. MS Dhoni’s Yellow Army will go against Faf Du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22.

With anticipation going over the roof, fans are getting restless and are eagerly waiting to see their favorite teams rock the 17th season of IPL. The latest season kicks off with a blockbuster of a fixture and Harbhajan Singh is ready for some fierce individual battles. One of those is between Glenn Maxwell and Ravindra Jadeja.

Harbhajan backs Jadeja to claim Glenn Maxwell’s wicket

The 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 50-over World Cup-winning former spin bowler feels that Ravindra Jadeja has a very good chance of claiming the wicket of Glenn Maxwell. Harbhajan noted with the type of hitter Maxwell is, Jadeja will find it very easy to trap him in case the Australian tries to hit big shots from the word go.

Bhajji, from his commendable cricketing experience, feels that when batting at the MA Chidambaram stadium then a batsman should be able to remain quiet in the first 10 balls. He added that batters should try to get their eyes set and get into a good zone before going for big hits. In case a batter tries to hit big shots right away then he/she is getting to the danger zone.

Additionally, with spin on offer, Harbhajan backed the left-arm finger spinner to work his magic successfully against a big hitter like Glenn Maxwell.

“It is a big task for anyone to just go out there and start hitting those sixes. You have to give yourself time to play in singles and doubles. If you don’t play 10 balls here before you start hitting those boundaries, I think you’re putting yourself in a danger zone. You can get out any time.”

“So in this particular battle, I think Jadeja will be ahead of Glenn Maxwell on that wicket, where it will do a little bit for Jadeja. It will hold a bit. There will be a bit of side spin as well,” Harbhajan said on Star Sports.

Last year when the two teams met each other in the league stages, it were the Chennai Super Kings who came out on top by 8 runs. CSK had posted a target of 226 on the board through the knocks of Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, Ambati Rayudu, and Moeen Ali.
In response, RCB were folded for 218 with Faf Du Plessis scoring 60+ and Glenn Maxwell playing out a 36-ball 76 at a strike rate of 211 along with 3 fours and 8 sixes. But RCB failed to win the match despite a good effort from the lower-middle order.

Bhajji says Glenn Maxwell is the only one who can hit on the go at Chepauk

Knowing the pitch very well at Chepauk, Harbhajan Singh claimed that if any batter in this world can hit big shots as soon as coming on to the crease then it’s Glenn Maxwell. Bhajji did mention that it’s easier said than done but if anyone could then it’s hands down Maxwell.

Lastly, the 4-time IPL winner said that the rivalry between Ravindra Jadeja and Glenn Maxwell will be interesting to see. “On Maxwell’s day, he is unstoppable. But on this wicket, yes, it will be hard for anyone to start hitting sixes from the ball one. But the only person who can do is, is Maxwell. Let’s see who win this rivalry,” Harbhajan concluded.
