Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Hardik Pandya recently disclosed discussions held within the team regarding external distractions. Hardik Pandya's statement came after the Mumbai Indians' first victory in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season against the Delhi Capitals (DC).

The Mumbai Indians faced significant criticism in the ongoing season, especially after replacing Rohit Sharma as the leader. Hardik Pandya succeeded Rohit Sharma, who led the Mumbai-based team to a record-equalling five titles, marking the first leadership change in 11 years.

The 30-year-old all-rounder achieved his first victory as MI captain with a convincing win over the Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 7. The Mumbai Indians secured a 29-run victory against DC, leaving Pandya visibly pleased with the team's performance.

Hardik Pandya played a slow innings, scoring 39 runs off 33 balls with the help of three boundaries and a six. Despite his knock, the Mumbai Indians set a challenging target of 235 runs in their allotted 20 overs, ultimately securing victory by restricting the Delhi Capitals to 205/8.

We Need Just One Win - Hardik Pandya

Following the win, Hardik Pandya spoke about the team's resilience amidst external pressures and their recent failures. Pandya emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive mindset and supportive environment within the dressing room.

"It was a lot of hard work. We cleared a lot of minds, made sure our plans are right, the intent is right, and today was one of the days where everything clicked. There has been a lot of love and care going around."

"Everyone knows we lost three games, but the belief and attitude of backing each other was there, which has been fantastic. We needed just one win, and today is just the start," Hardik said in the post-match presentation.

Ahead of their encounter with the Delhi Capitals, the Mumbai team utilized an off-day outside the city for team bonding activities, such as motorboating. Later, they enjoyed an evening of music and entertainment, dressed in vibrant attire, with some players even showcasing their dance moves.

We Will Be Making Tactical Changes - Hardik Pandya

Hardik acknowledged the team's stability following Suryakumar Yadav's return, underscoring the importance of maintaining a consistent lineup. He emphasized the necessity of making tactical adjustments while keeping the core squad intact.

"We will be making tactical changes here and there but this will be our 12 and settling our team now is important," Hardik added.

"It was amazing. To get 77 or 80 after six was wonderful. The way everyone is batting, we needed to find the rhythm to bat. The way everyone's chipping in with their opportunities coming was fantastic."

The Mumbai-based team will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their next match at their home ground on Thursday, April 11. The team aims to continue their winning momentum, aiming to climb into the top four places in the points table.
