Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad has revealed the IPL team he supports. One of the best bowlers of his generation, Stuart Broad never plied his trade in the IPL. He was close to playing in the IPL in the 2009/10 season but eventually decided against playing in the T20 league to focus on Tests.
In 2011, he earned his maiden IPL contract from the Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) but did not play due to a side strain. The England great was retained by the Punjab-based outfit for IPL 2012 but he once again skipped the tournament.
Stuart Broad did not receive another IPL contract after that. While he has not played in the competition, he follows it and recently named the team he supports. The former fast-bowler revealed that he supports Rajasthan Royals because of the number of English players playing in the franchise.
While England star Jos Buttler is still a part of the franchise, Stuart Broad’s former teammates such as Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Jofra Archer have also played for the Rajasthan-based franchise. The England legend also said that he likes the pink of the franchise.
“Generally, I try and support my friends, whoever they are playing for. I must admit Rajasthan Royals, where Jos Buttler is, and Jofra Archer who used to be. Looking like a really good franchise and I quite like the pink kit,” said Stuart Broad.
