Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are placed at the bottom of the points table heading into their second game of the IPL 2024 season against Punjab Kings. They lost their season opener against Rajasthan Royals.

The Super Giants failed to chase down 194 against Rajasthan Royals. KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran scored fifties but there was not much from the other batters.

There were reports of Rahul batting in the middle order from the beginning of the tournament. However, he opened the batting and Devdutt Padikkal batted at three.

The LSG pacers went for runs in the previous match. The spinners expectedly bowled well and they need to bowl well at home as well. The spin combination of Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandua will be key for the home games.

The Ekana stadium has been traditionally a spinning wicket and the challenge for the home team Lucknow Super Giants will be two with all their games at home and make the home stadium a fortress. They won just three games at home last season.

KL Rahul is expected to open the batting. He was slated to bat in the middle-order but opened in the first game. He might open in this game too. He scored 58 in the very first game.

Quinton de Kock

De Kock was dismissed early in the last game against Rajasthan Royals. He scored over 500 runs for the Super Giants and did not score too many in the last season.

Devdutt Padikkal

Padikkal scored a duck in his very first game for LSG. He was traded in from Rajasthan Royals in exchange for Avesh Khan. He scored 261 runs for the Royals last season. The southpaw recently made his Test debut for India.

Ayush Badoni

Badoni made an impact for LSG in IPL 2020 playing some crucial cameos. Last season he was used in the Impact Player role but was included in the Playing XI in the last game and scored just one.

Marcus Stoinis

Stoinis will slot in at five. He scored three of four balls in the first match and could not make the impact he wanted to. However, he is one of the designated finishers in the side.

Nicholas Pooran

Pooran will bat at six. He scored an unbeaten 64 off 41 balls and played his part in taking his team past 173 which was not enough in the end. Pooran has played a lot of domestic T20 cricket heading into the IPL.

Krunal Pandya

Pandya will slot in at seven. He can add his bit with the bat. However, his bigger role is with the ball. He bowled a spell of none for 19 off his four overs in the last match.

Ravi Bishnoi

Bishnoi can bat at eight. He is the premier spinner for the Lucknow Super Giants. He picked up 1 for 38 in the previous game. He picked up 16 wickets last season and one so far this season.

Mohsin Khan

Mohsin will be one of the two Indian pacers for LSG. He was expensive in the last match going for 45 runs. He took 14 wickets in IPL 2022 and missed last season due to injury.

Yash Thakur

Thakur will be the second Indian seamer featuring in the LSG XI. He picked up 13 wickets for the franchise last season but was expensive in the first game as he went for 45 runs.

Naveen-ul-Haq LSG

Naveen completes the likely XI for Lucknow Super Giants against Punjab Kings. He was expensive in the first game going for 41 runs but picked up two wickets. He picked up 11 wickets from 8 games last season.

Impact Sub- Deepak Hooda

Deepak Hooda was used as the Impact Sub in the first game by the Super Giants and he might be used in the same role again against Punjab Kings. Hooda scored 26 off 13 balls in the first game.
