Chennai Super Kings (CSK) wicketkeeper MS Dhoni stole the show with his batting performance in the 13th match of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). However, there was an injury scare, as MS Dhoni was seen visibly limping after the conclusion of the match.
MS Dhoni was named the Electric Striker of the Match against the Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, March 31. He scored an unbeaten 37 runs off 16 deliveries, featuring four boundaries and three sixes, but it wasn’t enough for CSK to secure a victory.
The former skipper entered the crease at No. 8 for CSK in pursuit of 192, with the match appearing out of reach. He dazzled the Chennai fans with his exceptional power-hitting, smashing four boundaries and three sixes. Dhoni maintained a strike rate exceeding 231.
The Chennai-based team fell short by 20 runs in their third match of the season, marking their first loss in the tournament. As a result, the team moved to second place in the 10-team points table. They currently hold four points with a net run rate (NRR) of +0.976.

Following the match, MS Dhoni imparted wisdom to DC youngsters Kuldeep Yadav, Rishabh Pant, and Khaleel Ahmed. He made a generous gesture towards the ground staff. However, Dhoni’s visible limp and the ice pack on his leg raised concerns among spectators.
After being approached by a few Vizag groundstaff, Dhoni gathered the rest and posed for a photograph with them. A video of the moment revealed Dhoni’s visible discomfort as he limped towards the groundsmen, sporting an ice pack on his left calf muscle.

MS Dhoni Back The Pages History – Aakash Chopra
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra highlighted Dhoni’s exceptional performance in CSK’s recent match. He praised Dhoni’s ability to evoke nostalgia and capture hearts with his timeless skill, emphasizing his enduring legacy in cricket.
“Mahi is cool. It was full money’s worth. He is not a player but an emotion, there is something special in him. Mahi was hitting, Mahi is hitting, and it seems like Mahi will keep hitting. Delhi – more than your win, the talk is about Chennai’s loss, because MS Dhoni rewound the clock,” Chopra said.
“He turned back the pages of history. He showed that whether a win was possible or not, the emotions in the heart are the same, and the love is still alive because he has still got it, that’s what he said,” the former India opener added.
The 42-year-old wicketkeeper batter joined the crease for CSK at 120/6 in the 16th over, leading a crucial 51-run partnership with Ravindra Jadeja for the seventh wicket. The CSK team fell short of the target, unable to secure victory despite Dhoni’s contribution.
