Former Australia spinner Brad Hogg feels that Prithvi Shaw is currently struggling with his form. Hence, he believes that Ricky Ponting’s first duty would be to address Prithvi Shaw’s form in IPL 2024. Prithvi Shaw is an opener for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024.

The right-handed batter struggled to come up with a fabulous show in the last season. Last year, Shaw gave a horrible show by adding 106 runs across 8 games averaging a mere 13.23. He was dropped from the playing 11 midway in the league due to his poor show.

However, Delhi Capitals retained Prithvi Shaw in the squad ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. The Delhi Capitals opener has been part of the franchise since the 2018 season and always represented the team as an opener. He will partner with David Warner in IPL 2024 in the opening slot for DC.

Ricky Ponting will first address Prithvi Shaw’s form: Brad Hogg

While speaking on his YouTube channel, former Aussie leg spinner Brad Hogg said DC coach Ricky Ponting needs to address Prithvi Shaw’s form in IPL 2024.

“[Ricky] Ponting will firstly address Prithvi Shaw’s form. He is not living up to his expectations at the moment. He has got to change the way he goes about his business, he has got to gain confidence and Ponting will be really working on that with his strategy for the first six overs. If he can turn things around and compliment Warner, then the middle order can come into play,” Hogg said on his YouTube channel.

Kumar Kushagra and Jake Fraser-McGurk DC’s potent force in death overs: Brad Hogg

Brad Hogg, who played for Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL, also feels Kumar Kushagra and Jake Fraser-McGurk will be a potent force for DC in the death overs.

“DC’s potent force in the final four overs is going to be Kumar Kushagra and Jake Fraser-McGurk. Whatever you are going to dish up against these youngsters in the final phase of an innings, these two are going to deliver. Two youngsters that have got nothing to lose are going to make the difference of this DC side,” Hogg further added.

Indian uncapped player Kumar Kushagra and Aussie opener Jake Fraser-McGurk became a part of Delhi Capitals during the IPL 2024 auction. Prithvi Shaw was part of the Mumbai team in the recent Ranji Trophy 2024 season. However, he failed to showcase a wonderful form in the domestic league which Mumbai won.

DC faces Punjab Kings in opening game of IPL 2024

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals commences its journey in IPL 2024 with a clash against Punjab Kings. The encounter will take place at MYS Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh on Saturday, March 23. Rishabh Pant leads DC in IPL 2024. IPL 2024 opener will be played between CSK and RCB on Friday, March 22.
