Former Indian Tennis legend Mahesh Bhupathi, who is originally from Chennai but supports the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL, wants the BCCI to remove the current RCB owners and sanction the forceful sale of the franchise.

Bhupathi made these comments while writing on X (formerly Twitter) after seeing his favorite team led by Faf du Plessis concede the highest-ever total in the league's history. It was well and truly a night that Bengaluru fans won't ever forget in their life.

The RCB fans got the taste of their own medicine which they made the Pune Warriors India taste back in 2013 when their left-hand opening batter stormed the M. Chinnaswamy stadium.

The Universe Boss - Chris Gayle was at his most deadliest form as he smacked the Indian Premier League's highest-ever individual score of 175* off 66 which helped his team score the highest-ever total of 263.

While Gayle's individual records - the fastest IPL century and the highest individual score remain safe to this day, RCB's record of the highest total posted in IPL has been broken twice.

And on both occasions, it was the Sunrisers Hyderabad, who first scored 277, less than 3 weeks ago against Mumbai Indians and amassed 287 last night against the team which started this particular trend. The reaction on the faces of Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, and Dinesh Karthik among others was worth watching.

All of them were just hoping for those first 20 overs to end pretty quickly but for them, those few hours seemed like an eternity. It seemed like a Test match where the batting team was all over the bowling unit and was approaching the score of 700 or 800.

Some RCB fans might have had teardrops come out of their eyes while others just consumed the pain and acted as if nothing happened. No one knew that a South-Indian derby would turn out to be exactly like a South Indian movie where anything anything pops off.

Mahesh Bhupathi makes a special request to BCCI on behalf of RCB fans

After seeing that performance from RCB, former Tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi had a special request to the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Bhupathi too to X and lashed out at the franchise by appealing to the apex board about sanctioning the forceful sale of the team and finding it a new owner.

Bhupathi targeted the current owners for not looking after RCB with much care and that new owners should come in, who can take care of the franchise, as other team owners have. "For the sake of the Sport, the IPL, the fans, and even the players I think BCCI needs to enforce the Sale of RCB to a New owner who will care to build a sports franchise the way most of the other teams have done so. #tragic." - Mahesh Bhupathi wrote on his X account.

RCB to face KKR up next

Meanwhile, RCB are now all set to face the Kolkata Knight Riders in a reverse fixture, this time away at the Eden Gardens. Bengaluru had lost their first meeting against KKR earlier in the season but if the South Indians are to keep their playoff hopes alive, then they must win this game and all the others going forward.
