Speaking on JioCinema, Eoin Morgan, who had previously spent three seasons with him at KKR, praised Rinku Singh‘s work ethic and attitude, highlighting the challenge of accelerating the run rate for the team.
“I was in the KKR squad with him from 2020 to 2022. You sit back and admire the work ethic over everything, combined with his attitude. It’s a role that can be very unforgiving at times. You have to be concise and calm but also have to pick your time and match up to accelerate the run rate. Right now, Rinku Singh is making a lot of good decisions,” said Morgan.

Rinku Singh emerged as Kolkata’s top run scorer last season, amassing 474 runs in 14 matches at an impressive average of 59.25 and a strike rate of 149.53, including four half-centuries. He ranked ninth overall in the IPL 2023 despite batting lower down the order.
The 26-year-old hit five consecutive sixes off Yash Dayal when 28 runs were needed off the last five deliveries to secure a crucial victory for KKR. The southpaw demonstrated his ability to finish games under pressure, solidifying his status as a reliable finisher.
Rinku’s outstanding performance in the IPL led to his debut for India in T20Is, where he showcased his skills. The middle-order batter has scored 356 runs in 11 innings at a remarkable strike rate of 176.24 in international cricket, including two half-centuries.
Kolkata Knight Riders To Kick Off Their IPL 2024 Campaign On March 23
Kolkata Knight Riders will kick off their IPL 2024 journey against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 23. Following their opener, KKR will face Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bengaluru on March 29 and Delhi Capitals in Vizag on April 3.
KKR secured only six victories in 14 matches and finished in seventh place in the last season under Nitish Rana’s captaincy. Shreyas Iyer has returned to lead the Kolkata-based franchise this year, bringing his leadership and batting prowess to bolster the lineup.
