They failed to qualify for the playoffs with Mumbai Indians pipping them to number four. They added five players in the auction after doing well to retain their core before the auction.
Rovman Powell (Rs. 7.4 crore), Shubham Dubey (Rs. 5.80 crore), Tom Kohler-Cadmore (Rs. 40 lakh), Abid Mushtaq (Rs. 20 lakh), Nandre Burger (Rs. 50 lakh) were the players that they added. Powell looks the most likely among these players to feature in the XI.
Lucknow Super Giants will be led by KL Rahul. He will lead the side and don a new role as a middle-order keeper-batter. The franchise finished third on the table last year losing out to Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator. Rahul is making a comeback to the IPL after recovering from his quadriceps injury that kept him out of the Test series after the first Test against England in Hyderabad.
The Super Giants roped in six players namely Shivam Mavi (Rs. 6.40 crore), Arshin Kulkarni (Rs. 20 lakh), M. Siddharth (Rs. 2.40 crore), Ashton Turner (Rs. 1 crore), David Willey (Rs. 2 crore), Mohd. Arshad Khan (Rs. 20 lakh). It will be interesting to see who makes the playing XI from these players.
