The Chennai Super Kings' fanbase is just incredible. A lot of the credit for their strong fanbase must go to Thala MS Dhoni as wherever he goes, the sea of yellow jerseys keeps following him.

The craze is such and so insane that parents of certain players, instead of supporting the team for which their son plays, actually put on the yellow jersey and back CSK in a match.

Such an incident took place last night when local boy Varun Chakravarthy, who wears the Purple and Golden jersey of Kolkata Knight Riders, visited the Chepauk for an away game against the reigning champions.

It was a homecoming for Varun Chakravarthy at the MA Chidambaram stadium as the mystery leg-spinner represents Tamil Nadu in the domestic circuit.

He has spent a lot of time on the Chepauk surface and it would be fair to say that KKR would have considered his pieces of advice before the match.

However, his suggestions did not have an impact as the visitors suffered their first loss of the 2024 season by 7-wickets but they still find themselves 2nd in the points table with an equal amount of points as CSK and Lucknow Super Giants.

After Ruturaj Gaikwad had won the toss, he asked Shreyas Iyer's side to go on and bat first on a track that looked bowling-friendly to a lot of extent.

KKR had got off to a poor start as CSK all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja claimed the wicket of opening batter Phil Salt in the very first ball. Then Sunil Narine, after a 56-run partnership with Angkrish Raghuvanshi, was sent back to the pavilion for 27 off 20.

The following batters then were able to score runs but none of them could hold on to their wicket. Someone from the batting order should have taken the responsibility and held on to one end but the CSK bowlers were up for the task light.

Varun Chakravarthy claims his family visited Chepauk not as KKR fans

Varun Chakravarthy, who was the only one from KKR to not have come out to bat, was hoping that his parents would visit the Chepauk stadium to support him and his team.

However, after CSK claimed the victory and went 4th in the league table, Chakravarthy while speaking in the post-match, revealed that his parents turned up to the venue wearing the Yellow jersey.

Varun Chakravarthy said that in a rather funny manner and also smirked while saying that, knowing that the craze of MS Dhoni and CSK is unreal. "My entire family came to watch the game at Chepauk but all of them are in yellove." - Chakravarthy said via IPL.

KKR lose but Varun Chakravarthy shines in Chepauk

Even though KKR remained on the losing side last night, it was a positive night for Varun Chakravarthy individually. The leg-spinner had the cheapest economy rate against CSK's dangerous batting line-up which chased down the target of 138 by the 17th over.

The 32-year-old leaked only 26 runs at an economy rate of 6.50 but could not claim a single wicket and that was the only concerning thing about his bowling last night.
